Grief Counseling

Both individual and group therapy is available at Still Waters Counseling. Individual Grief Counseling is available for those desiring more one-on-one support or for individuals who are not comfortable in a group setting. Life After Loss is a quarterly grief group at Still Waters Counseling offering bereavement support and encouragement for adults suffering the loss of a loved one. The group meets weekly for 8 consecutive weeks from Noon to 1:00PM on Thursdays. Participants learn coping and relaxation skills, have a safe space to learn about bereavement, increase self-awareness, explore and begin to process feelings, and increase their network of support. Call (734) 944-3446 for more information.

Navigating through the experience of grief can feel overwhelming both physically and emotionally. Although society tries to support those suffering loss, many individuals are left feeling lonely and isolated. It is not uncommon for the support from friends and family to fade away within months of a loss while the effects of grief seems to hold on for years. The road to recovery begins in the present moment as survivors mindfully take one breath at a time as these individuals learn how to begin to build a new life again. The reality of this new life seems difficult because it was not opted for as a choice but instead it represents a forced change. This is why it is essential for those suffering loss to practice self compassion, increased self-care and, overall, to cultivate hope as they begin to pick up the pieces and surrender to a world without the physical presence of their loved ones. With time, healing through the journey of grief surfaces survivor resiliency and a transformation of life, one that most individuals never thought possible. If you or someone you know is suffering a loss and are in need of support, call Still Waters Counseling at (734) 944-3446 for individual or group therapy.
